Roger Williams was born and raised in Indiana. He learned welding from his father, and an uncle from Vermont interested him in blacksmithing. After a summer in Ketchikan in 1972, Roger returned to Indiana where he began experimenting with wrought iron and copper and has been involved in metalwork of some type ever since.
In 1979 he again headed for Alaska working at various jobs until a friend in Juneau offered to teach him goldsmithing. Gold and silver was his focus for the next 20 years, returning to copper, iron, and German silver recently. All items are handmade, so no two are exactly alike. The only power tools used are for polishing. It is his intent to offer a useful, handmade momento of your time in Alaska.
Roger and his wife and children make their home in Gustavus, Alaska, the gateway community to Glacier Bay National Park.
